Whippet Training

Although Whippets are highly intelligent, they can be slow to learn. This trait should not be confused with stupidity. Their sometimes unwilling attitude during training could be down to the fact that, over the decades, the Whippet has been bred to have an independent mind while hunting – an attribute that has stuck with them.

They need an owner who will be kind, consistent and who will keep their mind stimulated with new tasks. With good obedience training and an encouraging attitude, the Whippet’s easy-going demeanor will become even more manageable. The adaptable breed can also be trained to perform well in agility, flyball and of course, Whippet racing.
